Sony is launching new smartphones in the Xperia lineup; Xperia miro and Xperia tipo. Both smartphones ship with Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) despite its lower specifications.
The Xperia mio packs a 3.5-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 320, Android 4.0 and a 5MP rear camera. It comes with a 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7225A processor, so performance will be just normal at best. Sony’s aiming the miro to be a fun phone with options to change the color of the chin (black, black/pink, white and white/gold). Facebook integration is also available throughout the operating system and customizable illuminations to differentiate incoming message and social updates.
In addition to the 5MP rear camera, the front facing camera will allow you to video chat with your friends. To provide great music entertainment, it integrates Sony’s xLOUD audio technology, giving crisp and loud sound. Xperia miro comes pre-installed with Music Unlimited from Sony Entertainment Network, providing instant access to millions of music tracks on the move.

The Xperia tipo aims at first time smartphone owners giving them a dedicated set-up guide and a built in app which allows users to keep track of their data usage throughout the month so that they don’t go over their allowance. Like the miro, the tipo ships with an 800MHz Qualcomm processor and delivers Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) at an afforadable price. You’ll also get 480 x 320 resolution in the tipo, although the screen is 3.2-inches rather than 3.5. The rear camera on the tipo is capable of just 3.2MP, for the first time smartphone user this might just be enough.
