There were no news after that but I guess the guys at Skype were busy improving the iPad app. They did however post an update on their blog. Few hours after that and finally there’s a tweet mentioning the availability of Skype for the iPad.

Simple SMS texting. An SMS text message can be sent by simply opening a contact and selecting SEND SMS or by opening the dial pad, typing in the number you wish to SMS and then typing your message.
